Lewes District Local Plan and LDF

• Lewes District Local Plan

  The Lewes District Local Plan is a document that sets out what we plan to do with land in the district and how we will control development. It guides most of our day-to-day planning decisions.

• Saved Policies

  We explain why did the Council need to ask the Secretary of State to 'save' the Policies of the Lewes District Local Plan.

• Core Strategy

  The Core Strategy is the central policy document for the Local Development Framework. It will set out the long term spatial vision for the district.

• Local Development Scheme

  The first stage in the Local Development Framework process is the preparation of a Local Development Scheme (LDS).

• Strategic Flood Risk Assessment

  Faber Maunsell (now known as Aecom) was commissioned to produce the Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) for the district.

• Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)

  The SHLAA is being undertaken to show that we have a rolling five year supply of deliverable and developable land for housing. The findings will help inform the forthcoming Local Development Framework (LDF).

• Industrial, Commercial, Retail and Hotel Monitoring

  This report helps review the existing adopted Local Plan policies to help inform the policies in the new Local Development Framework

• Employment Land Review (ELR)

  The ELR is a technical evidence document which focuses on employment space needs within the District.

• Renewable Energy and Low Carbon Development

  A development study assessing the local potential for renewable or low carbon energy generation in the District

• Statement of Community Involvement

  This sets out how, and when, we will undertake consultation in relation to the Local Development Framework process and in determining significant planning applications.

• Sustainability Appraisal

  Legislation requires us to carry out Sustainability Appraisals to inform policy making and monitor planning so that we can achieve more sustainable development.
