Privacy & Data Protection

Privacy & Data ProtectionData protection laws protect your privacy and ensure your personal information is used fairly and lawfully. This information can identify you, such as your name and address.

The information we hold about people has to be managed within the limits of the Data Protection Act. This broadly requires us to only hold the personal information we need, to keep it secure, not divulge it to third-parties and allow people to see the information we hold about them.

This requires us to ask for proof of your identity before releasing personal information if requested. The proof needed depends on the information being sought. This will be explained at the time.

To see personal information you will need to make a Subject Access Request. This is a formal request and we have to comply within 40 days.

In order to satisfy ourselves that you are entitled to see the information there are rigid identity checks and a fee of £10 payable to cover work involved. The guidance notes explain this further.

You are not entitled to a make a request on behalf of another person, only your own information.
