Employee Development

All employees receive regular training for their personal development and to increase the skills available to their department and the Council as a whole.

We offer a range of formal training and development opportunities to all staff.  This include e-learning packages, formal training courses, seminars and conferences.

We offer the European Computer Driving Licence course for all employees to help improve IT skills.

Fifteen of our positions have built-in study plans to gain professional qualifications as part of a pre-planned career path to help develop skills.

Members of staff have studied professional qualifications such as Management Diploma, MBA, MA, BSC and MSC.

Departments run job-specific courses and all staff are regularly asked about their training needs.

All new employees undergo a full induction programme followed by a rolling programme of training,

Any work-related training is provided by us, but we also provide loans for staff to undertake other courses or training not related to work.

We have been an Investor in People, a national award that recognises the Training and Development opportunities offered to employees since 1996.
