Advice

If you are thinking of starting your own business, information and advice is available. Workshops can also help turn ideas into a reality.  A number of local and national organisations offer business support for small and medium sized companies.

Business Link is the free national business advisory service who provides a wide range of advice for new and established businesses. They also offer training courses.

The Government have just launched their national mentoring scheme, Mentorsme which looks to provide the face to face business support that Business Link will no longer.

EDEAL provide free, confidential & impartial business advice offering training, consultancy and business support services.

Training

South Downs College has a training programme.  Navigate provides a range of workshops to help people rethink their approach to work, try new ideas or gain some qualifications if they find themselves out of work.

The Skills Funding Agency is an agency whose function is to fund and regulate adult further education and skills training in England.  They invest £4 billion per year in colleges and training organisations to fund training for adults.  The Skills Funding Agency is part of a new skills family with the Young People’s Learning Agency, the National Apprenticeship Service, the Department for Education and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. This partnership is designed to ensure that training is funded and promoted in order to meet the needs of employers, employees and learners, and to develop a workforce willing and able to play its part in the country’s economic recovery, growth and success.

Publicly funded business support is available through the Solutions for Business portfolio.  This package seeks to equip businesses with the skills and knowledge needed to tackle problems that often arise through every phase of development.
